Gum Disease
What is gum disease and why should there be so much concern?
Periodontal disease (gum disease) can start out mild (Gingivitis) and then leads to serious (Periodontitis) if not treated.
How do you know if this is a problem? Usually you can tell by noticing your gums have become red, swollen and tend to bleed easily.
This should be the first red flag to start maintaining good oral care. Time to start brushing and flossing after every meal!
Unfortunately not everyone responds to the early symptoms of gum disease as they
should and often times this leads to Periodontitis. This is not to be taken
lightly and a visit to the dentist is a must. The longer you wait the more
damage this disease can do. Fear of the dentist is not a good reason to avoid
going!
How to avoid gum disease? Good oral hygiene! There is no easy way out. People have to brush, floss and visit their dentist often to avoid problems.
Think of it like this, if you don't maintain your automobile what will happen? The human mouth takes a lot of abuse.
We chew, grind, constantly expose it to various bacteria, therefore we have to take care of our most crucial mechanism.... our mouth!
Don't delay, maintain your daily oral hygiene routine and visit your dentist.
